Tax disclaimer: Milefox is a personal mileage-tracking tool. It is not tax or legal advice, and it does not file or submit anything to any tax authority on your behalf. Deduction estimates are informational only. Always consult a qualified tax professional about your specific situation.
Milefox is designed around a simple principle: your trips belong on your device, not on our servers. Milefox has no user accounts and no server-side database of your trips. No location or trip data is ever transmitted to or stored by this server, ever. Every trip you log — its route, distance, purpose, and any notes — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not have a copy of this data, and we never receive it.
Our backend serves two things only, both public and stateless: the plain-text legal pages you are reading right now, and a small, publicly readable table of standard mileage deduction rates (for example, the IRS business-mileage rate). Fetching the rate table does not send your location, your trips, or any other personal data to us — it takes no input beyond an optional region code.
The following data is collected and stored exclusively on your device, and is never sent to our servers under any circumstance:
Milefox displays standard mileage rates (for example, published IRS rates) to help you estimate deductions. These rates are fetched from a small, public, read-only endpoint on our server. This request carries only a region code — never any trip, location, or personal data — and the response is the same public rate table for every user who asks.
Milefox uses Firebase Analytics to understand anonymous, aggregate product usage in-app (for example, which screens are opened or which features are used). Analytics data does not include your trip data, location history, or any personally identifying information tied to a specific trip.
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request. Because we never receive your trip or location data, there is nothing of that kind for us to disclose — our server simply has never seen it.
Because your trips live entirely on your device and we keep no server-side copy, you already have full access to them inside the app, and you can correct or delete any trip directly in Milefox. Deleting the app removes all locally stored trip and location data. You may email us with questions at [email protected].
You can decline analytics collection in Milefox's in-app settings, if offered, or via your device's standard privacy controls.
Milefox is operated in the United States. Because trip and location data never leaves your device, there is no cross-border transfer of that data. The rate table endpoint serves the same public data regardless of where the request originates.
We implement reasonable security measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), for the public pages and rate table our server does serve. However, no security measure is 100% guaranteed. If you have security concerns, please contact us at [email protected].
Milefox is a general-audience app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Milefox has no accounts, so there is no account-based data collection from any user, child or adult.
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, if required by law, via an in-app notification.
